PhD candidates who pursue a doctorate at UT but are not employed by the university will be charged an annual fee of at least three thousand euros from 1 April onwards, that cannot be waived. The Executive Board decided this today.

The recent flare-up of nationwide protests across Iran, and subsequent government-imposed communication blackouts, directly affect the lives of many Iranians studying and working at UT. PhD student Sina Rezaei wants to raise awareness on the situation. Plans for an on-campus demonstration are in the works.

A new cohort of Teaching & Learning fellows is concluding their fellowship on 27 January. Assistant professor Fulya Kula is one of those fellows. She developed a bridging course to upgrade math skills, which is now being used UT-wide for first-year engineering students.

Een nieuwe lichting Teaching & Learning fellows rondt op 27 januari hun fellowship af. Universitair docent Fulya Kula is een van hen. Ze ontwikkelde een overbruggingscursus om wiskundeskills op te krikken, die nu UT-breed wordt ingezet voor eerstejaars.
