‘Setting the bar high for others’

Ordering at Bij Flip for a student can be slightly more expensive than your run-of-the-mill pizza joint. But the price is well worth the service and quality of the food that gets delivered. Bij Flip went above and beyond to show how to do deliveries properly in a time where restaurants tend to struggle, setting the bar high for others.

Although the food is still of great quality, due to its pricing I cannot say it is truly exceptional, considering the competition. This is compensated for a good amount of quantity for your buck, great delivery times, them properly considering corona measures and a very good general presentation. If you are looking for a good place to order for that special occasion or during the holidays, Bij Flip is a very, very solid recommendation.

‘Until we meet again, churros!’

Luckily for my stomach, which was rumbling louder than the fireworks outside my house, my Mexican food was delivered with the accuracy of a Swiss watch. However, the driver handed over the food in a distance that made Mark Rutte point fingers from miles away. No mask in sight either - that’s so 2019.

Both my tacos as well as the churros disappeared rather quickly, which sounds more concerning for me than it does for Taco Mundo. Siri, what is ‘mindful eating’? While the tacos did not reinvent the wheel, the Churros compensated whatever the rest might have been lacking. Chef’s kiss!

Overall, ordering Taco Mundo is the right choice if you look for comfort food that makes you think ‘How did I finish all this by myself?’. While being rather pricey for students, this will not have been my last order here. Until we meet again, Churros!

‘Perfect Surinamese lamb and a drink for free’

If you compare Shivani’s with other takeout’s, I’m surprised about the quality of food you get. It’s about the same price as others, but the quality is way higher. I ordered lamb, which was perfectly cooked and melted on your tongue. You also get a drink, sauce and toppings when you order at their website for free. I did have to order more than I wanted to get to the minimum price for delivery.

With this pandemic we need the delivery people to follow the corona measures. I didn’t give them specific instructions. They chose to not wear a mask and hand me the food directly, which is not as prescribed.

To students, I would highly recommend to order food at Shivani’s to get nice food for a very nice price. You should give clear instructions to them about delivery as they don’t take initiative themselves.

‘Half-heartedly warm, but great taste’

La Cubanita is usually known for its unlimited tapas, cocktails and the Cuban ambiance in the restaurant. Now, feeling the Caribbean atmosphere is possible at home as well.

The order was delivered 15 minutes too early and no Corona measures were kept. The food smelled delicious and the tapas box also looked nice with the food in four sections. Unfortunately, the four tapas were not hot anymore. They were rather half-heartedly warm, but did have great taste. The bread on the other hand was hard and slightly burned and thus not edible. Looking at the prices, you definitely get more for your money when eating in the restaurant. But for the price, the amount of food was more than enough.

‘You get exactly what you order; nothing more, nothing less’

This popular Argentinian restaurant is definitely at a higher price point but is comparable with similar restaurants. It is certainly worth a try! Poco Mucho truly takes good customer service, and on-time deliveries to another level and is positively surprising when your order is placed during a typical rush hour. Special care is also taken in adhering to the Corona regulations.

The food undoubtedly delivers in terms of flavour but lacks a little in terms of presentation, especially in comparison with other steakhouses. While you get a decent amount for your buck, you get exactly what you order; nothing more, nothing less, even if that means no sauce for your fries…

If you are not a harsh critic, and are looking for flavourful food and impeccable service on a relaxing weekend, Poco Mucho is the way to go!

‘Not my plate of falafel’

To explore the vegetarian options in Enschede, I ordered at Çiğköftem. A highly rated, fully vegetarian restaurant. Excitedly, I waited for my falafel menu with vegetables. The food was delivered by someone standing maybe one arm length away from me. Before I could say anything he had already pressed the food into my arms and turned around, mumbling a soft ‘enjoy your meal’. Which, for the record, I did not. 

The falafel and Icli Köfte were cold, and there were no vegetables at all. Or, I stand corrected, there was half a crop of lettuce which had expired. It was all spotted on the inside. I ate what was edible and then begged my housemate if I could have some of their food. I am glad about the vegetarian options in Enschede, but this restaurant is definitely not my cup of tea. Or, should I say, plate of falafel.
