Enschede by bicycle taxi
Explore the city of Enschede in a new way by taking a ride in a bicycle taxi! Canadian Valerie Zwart, artist and long-time resident of Enschede, painted the current fiets taxis which were built by two UT Industrial Design students, Edwin Dertien and Wout Zweers. Every three months a new artist will have the chance to repaint the taxis. The taxi service can serve up to two passengers with one driver. Each pedal-powered taxi is equipped with a red, old-style dial telephone that is really a GPS system, letting riders learn about the locations they pass along the way. There are four taxis that operate on Saturdays and on ‘koopzondag’ when the city’s stores are open from 12pm till 6pm. A taxi ride costs 3 euro.
