You are not Dutch? Then this is a cultural excurse, especially for students. Something you have to know when you live as a student in the Netherlands.

The first question is: What is a ‘Rokje’?

This is easy to answer. A Rokje is a skirt.

But what is a ‘Rokjesdag’?

This is the day at the beginning of every spring season when girls and women wear for the first time in the year a skirt.  The phenomenon exists since a quite long time but was made popular by Martin Bril a Dutch columnist and writer when he used this term in his column ‘Het Parool’.
