The Opening of the Academic Year 2018-2019 will be held on the 3rd of September in the Waaier. It represents the official kick-off of the new academic year and is open to students, scientists, employees and partners of the UT.
The annual ceremony traditionally includes a keynote lecture. This year, it will be given by Annemieke Nijhof, who was named the ‘Top Female Executive of the Year 2015’ and currently holds the position of the Managing Director of Tauw, an international firm of consulting engineers.
A number of awards will be handed out during the event. The most inspiring lecturer of the University of Twente will receive the Education Award. The Rector Magnificus will also hand out the TGS (Twente Graduate School) Award for a talented UT Master’s student who has the ambition to pursue a PhD degree. Lastly, five Master’s students (one from each faculty) will receive the Graduation Award.
