PhD candidates that follow the joint programme will carry out their research under the joint responsibility of both institutions, resulting in a jointly awarded degree after a successful defence.
The University of São Paulo (USP) is a so-called strategic partner of the UT. Eight research projects have been initiated over the last years and more than forty researchers from both universities have published their research findings together. According to Jelle Ferwerda, the UT country coordinator for Brazil, USP has a proven track record. ‘And they are a leading comprehensive research university. We are enjoying a fruitful collaboration and hope to build upon this even further.’
