De faculteit ITC verhuist in 2022 naar gebouw The Gallery, die voorkeur spreekt het college van bestuur uit. In dit gebouw krijgt de faculteit beschikking over het nu nog leegstaande gedeelte.

Plants and trees are not passive victims of climate change; instead, they play an active role in the composition of our atmosphere. With the help of FLEX, a new type of satellite, the European Space Agency will study the impact of Earth’s plant life on climate change. De universiteitsraad stemde gistermiddag in met de organisatiewijziging van University College ATLAS. De opleiding voor excellente studenten valt straks onder de vlag van ITC. Gisteren sprak de Uraad over het waarborgen van medezeggenschap en – opnieuw – het kostenplaatje.

Citadel wordt niet gesloopt om plaats te maken voor een nieuw ITC-gebouw. De kosten voor het nieuwe onderkomen vormen een te groot financieel risico, zegt CvB-vicevoorzitter Mirjam Bult. De UT onderzoekt drie alternatieven, waaronder de huidige ITC locatie.

Building plans ITC on hold

The new building plans for the ITC faculty on campus have been ‘temporarily’ suspended. Mirjam Bult writes this on behalf of the Executive Board in an e-mail to ITC employees, that is in possession of U-Today. This is caused by the higher prizes in the construction market, which means that the UT must review its entire housing plan.

ITC wil onderscheidend en duurzaam gebouw

Onderscheidend en duurzaam. Met die woorden beschrijft Erna Leurink, directeur bedrijfsvoering ITC, het gebouw dat de faculteit vanaf 2021 moet krijgen. De verhuizing naar de campus betekent ook ruimte inleveren. ‘Een uitdagende, maar interessante puzzel’, vindt Leurink.

Global map of accessibility

‘When I first saw the finished map it surprised me how connected the world looked. On the other hand, it also shows there is still a lot of inequality in the world. And that there is no easy solution for that,’ says ITC Professor Andy Nelson when asked about the ‘Global map of inequalities in accessibility’, which he helped to create and which was recently published in Nature.
