Ploumen will talk about the global importance of innovations in geo-information science and earth observation, including the new way of registering land rights and monitoring water quality. According to the Minister, new techniques can make a world of difference for people in developing countries.
Alumnus
ITC alumnus Jane Bemigisha, CEO of Environmental Surveys, Information, Planning and Policy Systems (ESIPPS) in Uganda, will give a presentation on establishing a private business in geo-information science. Dean Tom Veldkamp will present the ITC research award to the doctoral degree candidate who has published the best scientific article.
In the coming academic year, 142 students from 32 different countries will commence an educational programme.
The meeting in the Grote Kerk on the Oude Markt will start at 1500 hours.
