International School Twente keeps its doors open

The International School Twente (IST) received a new educational license. With this, the school has until 2023 to grow to the minimum of one hundred students. In recent months, the UT has been committed to maintaining the IST.

This license was preceded by a lobby in the past six months. With the local government, the business community and educational institutions, including the UT, IST lobbied to stay open and get the chance to grow to a hundred students. Atilla Kerpisci, UT Director of Marketing and Communication, said in June that an international school in Enschede is important for the university. ‘Especially for international staff, PhD students and postdocs, such a complete English-language school is attractive.’
