Problems with study book delivery (seem) averted

An agreement between the Organisation of Study Associations and the LISA service department should prevent UT students from being left without textbooks in the coming quarter. The uncertainty arose due to the sudden bankruptcy of supplier Studystore.

The supply of textbooks goes largely through the UT's own study associations. For them and the Organisation of Study Associations (OS), which maintains the contracts with suppliers, the bankruptcy of regular supplier Studystore last February came as a bolt from the blue.

After Studystore's bankruptcy, the supply of textbooks threatened to become uncertain, especially in the fourth quarter. But that uncertainty now seems to have been averted, OS director Roy Koers informs. 'We have an agreement with LISA that they will help associations purchase online learning material. And in many cases there are textbooks available, which can be offered through the library. Together, we have set up a roadmap for associations on how to make use of that.'

New supplier

For the coming academic year, a draft contract is ready with a new supplier, WO4YOU. The OS is currently gathering feedback on that, so that signatures can then be added. 'And to ensure that the transition to a new supplier goes as smoothly as possible,' Koers says.
