Technical Medicine student Merel van der Stelt (25) is helping to provide prosthetics to amputees in Sierra Leone. During her internship in the African country, she used a 3D printer to create prosthetics for local patients. Now she is a part of a team aiming to set up a 3D-Lab there.

It’s one of a kind – it is fully 3D printed, very fast, highly precise and it’s the cheapest of all similar motors out there. It can improve cancer diagnosis, be used in radioactive environments and even for space exploration.

A new Rapid Prototyping lab is opening at the UT on the 14th of June. It is situated in the Horst building and can be used as a shared facility, where you can create 3D products in any shape or form.

Nieuw prototypelab voor robotica

In Carré wordt de komende twee weken een nieuw lab ingericht waar onderzoekers onderdelen voor robots uit 3D-printers kunnen laten rollen. De vakgroep van hoogleraar Stefano Stramigioli kan met de nieuwe apparatuur sneller en efficiënter robots in de praktijk testen.
