Veel UT-horeca blijft ook na 1 juni dicht

Vanaf 1 juni mag de Nederlandse horeca weer open, maar op de campus blijven veel deuren vooralsnog dicht. Bij studentensociëteit de Pakkerij heerst onduidelijkheid. ‘We willen zo snel mogelijk open, maar hebben er weinig invloed op.’

Many of the UT bars and restaurants remain closed after 1 June

From the 1st of June, the Dutch hospitality industry will open its doors again, but on campus many doors will remain closed for the time being. At the Pakkerij there is a lack of clarity. 'We want to open as soon as possible, but have little influence on it.'

The Too Good To Go app, to reduce food waste, is available at campus since recently. Via the app it is possible to order meals from Appèl in the Waaier. For around 30- 35% of the original retail price you receive a surprise box stacked with food nearing its expiry date. What is it like to eat food that would otherwise be trashed?

New caterer Appèl

‘We want to reduce the use of plastic’

Appèl has been in charge of all on-campus catering for six months now. During focus group sessions the new caterer got direct feedback from the UT community – which included issues such as prices and the use of plastic. The caterer will introduce a few changes in the near future.
