Green Light District

Most people know about the Red Light District in Amsterdam? But what is the Green Light District? On April 26, International beer brewer Grolsch will start its marketing campaign in Enschede to introduce its new swing-top green bottle by lighting the city in green. From street lights to the lighting of the Old Church, Grolsch will create a green world in the square of the Old Market. On Saturday, students can listen to the music of Alex van Oostrom and the Dutch DJ, Benjamin Bates. In England, the Green Light District proved to be a big success for the cities of London and Manchester. You can travel to the city to toast the close of the Batavierenrace, which also will be taking place on Saturday. The Green Light District opens at 9:00pm, and ends at 1:00am.

The Student Union is forced to take austerity measures that affect all sports associations as of the new academic year. They will have their subsidy cut. The Unioncard is also becoming more expensive and less money is going to the student trainers.

Petitie tegen inmenging big tech

Hoogleraren René Torenvlied en Roland van Rijswijk-Deij overhandigen vandaag, donderdag 24 april, een petitie aan rector magnificus Tom Veldkamp. Hiermee roepen zij het CvB op om snel Europese, afgeschermde alternatieven te zoeken voor Amerikaanse ICT-diensten als Microsoft365, Google Workspace en Apple iWork. Dit om privacy en kennisveiligheid te waarborgen.

Sporten kan 500 euro duurder worden voor studenten

Universiteiten en hogescholen krijgen geld voor onderwijs, onderzoek en kennisoverdracht aan de maatschappij. En dus niet voor sportfaciliteiten en kantines, bevestigt minister Bruins.
