UT alumnus Maarten den Braber and UT student Emile Nijssen will be two of the people talking about their inventions and innovations at the next TEDx Twente University event at the Vrijhof. They have eighteen minutes each to tell the story they think the world should know.
Den Braber is the founder of the Quantified Self movement, a community involved in self-tracking. Nijssen, together with a fellow student, has developed Homey, a tool which turns homes in smart homes.
And UT Professor in Philosophy of Technology Peter-Paul Verbeek and Angélique Schmeinck will also be giving a talk at the Vrijhof on 10 October. Schmeinck, who holds the title of SVH master chef (the highest level of achievement in Dutch culinary art) caused a furore with her restaurant in a hot air balloon. Later this month, the organization will announce the other speakers.
No more than a hundred visitors
Just like previous year, when TEDx Twente University was held for the first time, no more than a hundred visitors are allowed to attend the inspirational speeches delivered by the fourteen speakers. This maximum number of visitors has been decided upon by parent organization TED. Tickets cost 25 euros. To get hold of a ticket, you have to write a motivation letter.
