The Chinese Culture Event is taking place this Sunday afternoon in the Rijskmuseum Twenthe in Enschede. It is a joint event organized by the ACSSE (Association of Chinese Students and Scholars of Enschede), the City of Enschede and Rijksmuseum Twenthe.
Free entrance for students
The event´s main goal is to share the Chinese art and culture with an international audience, and will therefore be held entirely in English. However, a Dutch translator will be present. The entrance is free for all students. Other visitors will need to pay the regular entrance fee of the museum.
'Every year we organize a Chinese Culture Event at the UT campus, but this year the City of Enschede contacted us with the offer of a joint event,' explains Yuxin Zhou, a UT student and one of the organizers. 'In the beginning of June there will be an exhibition of Dalian Chinese Modern Art in the Rijksmuseum, which our visitors can also see. On top of that, the 5th of June is a Cultural Sunday in Enschede, so this was a perfect opportunity.'
Dancing, calligraphy and tea art
'The program will be divided into three sections,' continues Yuxin Zhou. 'There will be poster presentations focused on Chinese art, food, clothes, technology and so on. Then there will be performances including traditional Chinese musical instruments, dancing and singing. We will also organize an interactive session, so the audience can truly experience Chinese culture. We will teach calligraphy, tea art or play traditional Chinese games.'
