UT scores well on International Student Barometer

The UT obtains a second position out of all Dutch universities in the International Student Barometer. That is the outcome of an annual satisfaction survey among foreign students.

Internationals are satisfied with the support of the UT, but social integration with Dutch students leaves much to be desired. Worldwide the UT performed averagely: at spot 92 of the 199 universities. Among all Dutch universities, Twente scores the best when it comes to support and arrival in the Netherlands. The international students are particularly satisfied with visa advice: the UT achieves the highest score worldwide.

More than 1000 international students from the UT completed the survey. Thirteen Dutch universities and universities of applied sciences (hogescholen) were tested. The International Student Barometer is an initiative of I-Graduate, an international research institute for education, and has been held since 2005.

A few hours before the start of the European Football Championship, four international football players from vv Drienerlo will give a preview. What do they expect from their country, who will win the European Championship, how far will the Netherlands come and how will they follow the matches? ‘I am jealous of my brother, who is sitting in the stadium tonight.’

‘Mijn spiegelbeeld is de enige persoon die ik op een dag zie’

De groep internationale studenten aan de UT groeit ieder jaar gestaag. Om deze internationals wegwijs te maken in Nederland, kent de universiteit een buddyprogramma dat kersverse studenten koppelt aan een ervaren mentor. Twee van deze buddy-koppels vertellen over hun ervaringen in Twente.
