Just like in the 2018 edition, there are three categories: Ideation, Prototyping and Startup. ‘Regarding our approach, nothing has changed compared to the years before,’ says co-organiser Jeroen Bos of the Student Union. Part of the challenge are workshops from research group NIKOS and Novel-T, including a pitch training. The final will be on the UT Entrepreneurial Day, on June 20. The prizes for the winners are €5000 per category winner. In addition, Novel-T offers the winners a prospect to further develop their ideas.
More room for feedback
Marketing agency Soapbox developed the concept for the challenge, in collaboration with the TU Eindhoven. Over there, the competition is called the TU/e Contest. Three years ago, Lino Thewissen from Soapbox brought the concept to the UT. He says the organisation made an improvement this time around. ‘This year, there will be more time for students to ask for feedback on their business plans, during chat sessions. We expect that this will improve the overall quality.’
Success stories
Examples of success stories, originating from the UT Challenge, are the beer brewery Hops & Grains and the creaters of augmented reality headsets, Aryzon.
Registration for the challenge is still possible.
