The team from Twente had a good day during the first stage from Agadir to Zagora on Monday, but yesterday went even better for Solar Team Twente. The stage of over 550 kilometers went flawless from the start. Even though the team had previously described the stage from Zagora to Merzouga as the toughest, because stage 2 included the most meters uphill.
Just before the finish in Merzouga, a village almost bordering Algeria, the team from Twente caught up with the leader of the general classification Agoria Solar Team from Leuven. The Belgians defended a lead of over 17 minutes on the Solar Team beforehand and kept enough time to remain leader of the general classification.
Today both the start and the finish are in Merzouga. The teams will then cover 523 kilometers.
