If the city of the future is 'smart', what do we call cities that do not meet that criterion? Nicholas You, director of the Guangzhou Institute for Urban Innovation in China, was unequivocal on the matter during a conference in Singapore: cities that refuse to take the 'smart' course are simply 'stupid'.

Uraadslid Gert Brinkman (PvdUT) hekelt het Onderwijs- en Examenreglement (OER), waarbij studenten voor module-onderdelen ‘fictieve’ EC’s krijgen. Die vervallen als niet de hele module gehaald wordt. Hij roept het CvB op om aan module-onderdelen concrete EC’s toe te kennen.

Waar de overheid kiest voor een 'rookvrije generatie', zou de UT als most welcoming university zich moeten uitspreken voor een generatie die zich welkom opstelt, en niet te veel zeurt over een ander.

Open Access en Open Science: het keffertje en de pitbull

Sinds een maand is mijn groep Open Access Hero van de faculteit TNW. We hadden in 2016 relatief de meeste Open Access publicaties. Ik wist niet eens dat dit een wedstrijd was, en al helemaal niet dat we meededen. Maar op 21 februari mocht ik de prijs in ontvangst nemen, en met mij vier groepsleiders uit de andere faculteiten: vijf helden op een rij.
