‘Coronapaspoort mag niemand achterlaten’

Dashboard to predict regional outbreaks

‘Predicting COVID-19 is close to impossible’

UT professor Nelly Litvak is leading a project developing a COVID-19 dashboard to predict regional outbreaks in the Netherlands. The dashboard should help municipalities make suitable decisions on corona measures. ‘One of the main issues with COVID-19 was that we didn’t have enough knowledge and didn’t know what to do.’

‘Small, infectious droplets can persist in air for over an hour’

FFP2 face masks, ventilation and air filters. According to Detlef Lohse, UT professor and an expert in fluid dynamics, these are presently the most important extra ingredients to prevent the coronavirus from spreading indoors. ‘Since the majority of infections is airborne, namely via aerosols.’

Curfew: campus visits limited to 'absolute minimum’

Because of the curfew, which goes into effect on Saturday, the university library will close its doors at 7.30 p.m. as of next week. The UT calls on staff and students not to come to the campus in the evening hours, unless it is 'essential'.

Avondklok: campusbezoek beperkt tot ‘absoluut minimum’

Vanwege de avondklok, die zaterdag ingaat, sluit de universiteitsbibliotheek vanaf volgende om half acht haar deuren. De UT roept medewerkers en studenten op om in de avonduren niet naar de campus te komen, tenzij dat ‘onontkoombaar’ is.

Lockdown: don’t come to the UT if not necessary

The Netherlands is in hard lockdown from today until 19 January 2021. For the University of Twente this means: do not come to campus unless absolutely necessary. Buildings will not be closed, but employees and students should stay at home as much as possible.

30,000 euros for Coronavirus Student Emergency Fund

Almost 20,000 euros was donated to the crowdfunding campaign for students and PhD candidates who were adversely affected financially by the corona lockdown. The campaign was initiated this spring by the University Fund, which doubled the first 10.000 euros.
