International students are 'going Dutch'

Last year, fifty international students got a taste of Dutch hospitality at Dine with the Dutch. Also this year, ChOOSE, a cooperation of four Christian student associations in Twente, has arranged four student houses that will provide free meals to co-students from other countries. You can register until the end of September.

The aim of this initiative is to get to know each other’s culture better. Last academic year, Dine with the Dutch took place during the last quartile. That’s different this time. Co-organizer Petra ten Hove: ‘After the successful round of last year, we now deliberately choose the first quartile. In this way, international students will receive a warm welcome. We already started to promote this during the Kick-In and have had many nice conversations.’

That promotion is going well shows from the number of applications. Having 60 applications already, there are more participants than last year. Perhaps it has something to do with the composition of the current committee? Uniquely, it includes international students this year.

Committee member Matthijs Vermeulen: ‘It is possible to register until the 1st of October. In October and November, we will match international students to student houses, so that they can actually Dine. We are looking forward to it!’
