Why did you choose Twente?
'I am following a double degree and it seemed interesting to me to pick up a study in the Netherlands. When I looked into the study Computer Science, I found out that there is a lot to learn in addition to your studies and that there are many sports opportunities. That appealed to me, so I didn't have to think long.'
Already found a place to live?
'Yes, I have. Finding accommodation is never easy. Whether you do it via Roomspot, Facebook or another method; everything has its pros and cons. One room I was offered needed a lot of work, another was too expensive. But anyway, I managed relatively easily. Thanks to ESN Twente. I have been living in my room since today.'
What is your first impression?
'That it is very beautiful here. I am impressed by the campus and the facilities that are available. What I also like is that the university is very international. I want to take Dutch lessons, but especially when you start it is nice that the people around you have a good knowledge of the English language. Moving to another country is not easy. You have to arrange a lot of things and register everywhere, so it's great that people help you here.'
Are you going to join an association?
'Without a doubt. In fact, I've just signed up with the rowing club. I also want to join a study association and maybe more will follow. I think it's important to mix with other students, that helps me feel at home more quickly. That works best with associations.'
What are you going to do in the first weeks anyway?
'First I am going to buy a bicycle. I miss it already. I have an appointment tomorrow, so hopefully I can cycle everywhere then. If that's successful, I'll focus on my studies next, that comes first. Then I want to pick up sports and I hope to settle down as soon as possible. I'm confident that will happen soon.'
