Photo report: a soapbox race to celebrate 25 years of Student Union

To celebrate their fifth lustrum, the Student Union hosted a soapbox race at the UTrack. About twenty teams participated, with prizes for the fastest and most beautiful self-made vehicles. A photo report.

The Student Union notes a 'general decline in the number of active members' among associations, according to the recently published activism monitor 2023. The study and world associations in particular are struggling with declining activism.

Er zijn zorgen over de staat van het studentenactivisme op de UT. Dat vinden zowel de universiteitsraad als rector Tom Veldkamp. De Student Union werkt momenteel aan een ‘implementatieplan’ om het activisme op te krikken.

Wat begon als een banenbeurs van drie studieverenigingen, groeide in veertig jaar uit tot een wekenlang durend carrière-evenement. Deze veertigste editie van de Business Days Twente moet volgens de organiserende commissie ‘voor ieder wat wils’ bieden, dit jaar ook voor Saxionstudenten en – nog steeds – voor wie bij Shell wil werken.

What started as a job fair organised by three study associations grew over forty years into a multi-week career event. According to the organising committee, this fortieth edition of the Business Days Twente should offer 'something for everyone', this year also for Saxion students and - still - for those who want to work at Shell.
