ITC faculty announces reorganisation

| Rense Kuipers

The ITC faculty announced a reorganisation on Wednesday afternoon. A gap of roughly 3 million euros cannot be closed by the faculty. An estimate of twenty jobs is at stake.

Since Budget Day, the ITC faculty has had some clarity about government funding. It will shrink by 3 million euros per year from 2026. The faculty cannot absorb that financial blow, which is why the faculty board announced a reorganisation on Wednesday.

Twenty jobs eliminated

This makes ITC the second UT faculty to embark on a reorganisation process in a short period of time. S&T announced  a reorganization last September and recently announced that 47 employees have been threatened with dismissal. S&T was challenged with a saving task of 7 million euros annually, for ITC it is roughly 2.5 million euros. It is estimated that the reorganisation will eliminate about twenty jobs.

'Tough year'

'ITC is facing a tough year with unpleasant choices', said dean Freek van der Meer back in January. At that time, it was already expected that the cuts in the workforce could not be avoided. 'In the coming months, we will work on a sketch with criteria and possible scenarios, and take a critical look at our workforce.'

October

In the coming period, the ITC faculty board will be drawing up a reorganisation plan. What the reorganisation will look like is still unclear at the moment. The board aims to have a reorganisation plan ready - and approved by the faculty council - in October.
